About Phase Sequence Indicators

Phase sequence indicators are used to verify the phase rotation (RYB or RBY) of a 3-phase AC supply before connecting motors, generators, or other rotating equipment. Incorrect phase sequence causes motors to rotate in the wrong direction, which can damage machinery and create safety hazards. CIE manufactures two variants: the PSI-1 with a rotating disc indicator that physically shows the direction of phase rotation, and the PSI-2 in a compact ABS moulded body.

Phase sequence verification is a routine check performed before energising any 3-phase motor or generator, before parallel operation of generators, when taking a supply from a new source, and during commissioning of electrical panels and motor control centres. Phase sequence indicators are compact, portable instruments used by electricians, commissioning engineers, and maintenance teams.

CIE phase sequence indicators are supplied to customers across India — electrical contractors, industrial maintenance teams, panel builders, and commissioning engineers in Kolkata, Howrah, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and all regions where 3-phase electrical systems are installed.
